Our Journey
As you may have heard from our personal stories, Dudley Destinations is actually made up of a duo, Josh and Bre. But what I bet most of you didn’t know is how the duo came to be. Well if you are reading this, you are in luck because you are about to get a glimpse into our story. Flashback to 2020, what a fun time to be alive, the world is fighting a pandemic, travel plans are mostly getting ruined and the future of our paths are uncertain. I (Josh) was supposed to be traveling to Tunisia to teach English for a year and although I didn’t know it at the time, Bre was supposed to go to Honduras to also teach. Although Covid didn’t directly prevent us from going, it is the reason we both decided individually to stay put for the time being. The proverbial question “what now” landed us both in Omaha in July of 2020.
We both started to attend a local church, where we eventually met at an event in November of 2020. As the story goes it was love at first site, the problem being only one of us realized it at the time. We continued to see each other at different groups and in late December as I was making travel plans to attempt to climb one of the seven summits, I made the deal with Bre that if I survived I would tell her about it when I returned. Although that is a different story, I survived and it was time to return and go on a date, or so I had thought.
We met up and I shared my pictures and stories with her and got to know her alongside our mutual friend Jenna playing the role of wing woman for me. It was after that night I realized that flirting was getting nowhere and I was going to have to be bold and clear. Eventually I found a time to ask her out and to my surprise she said yes.
After about 9 months of dating and a four month engagement we got married in March of 2022. I know at this point some of you are thinking, holy crap that is fast! But if you go by any Christian standards we waited an eternity. All jokes aside, if you are considering planning a full blown wedding in under 4 months, elope.
Flashing forward again, we have been blessed to visit 9 countries in just over a year, from hiking volcanoes, to a 200 dollar round-trip flight to Colombia, and even helping our friends move with cats to Thailand. We will get into those stories soon, but better yet we will spend the next 6 months trying to top them so stay tuned.
